“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves.” – CARL JUNG
Group Therapy provides powerful opportunities for growth and healing. It helps people practice in “real-time” and in the “real world” what is often theoretical. Group helps participants skillfully practice sharing themselves so that they can effectively “know others” and be “known”. Learning to balance vulnerability with protections allows for optimal sharing and community building.
Group Therapy is experiential in nature—it provides a “live” environment to practice interpersonal skills with others in a safe, supportive and therapeutic space.
It is a social exercise and it helps develop deeper awareness and appreciation. Through sharing and listening, participants gain a greater understanding of themselves in relation to others. Most men and women report experiencing greater confidence and self-esteem as a result of group therapy practice
You may experience apprehension about joining a group – but don’t worry. Most everyone feels this way at the start. Though your worries feel quite real, once guidelines are established most find the experience to be reassuring, welcoming and ultimately very personally rewarding.
